A Married Couple Becomes Fretful About Their Excessive And Abusive Drinking And Contemplates Whether They Exhibit Any Signs Of Alcohol Addiction
Angie and Lenny have been married for seven years. They wanted to experience some fun and excitement before they decided to have some kids and so they willfully constructed an especially active social life.
The key issue, it needs to be underscored, is that nearly everything they do to have fun somehow includes drinking. For example, all of the happy hours, parties with friends, sporting events, family get-togethers, and dinner engagements they patronize somehow involve drinking.
If they were responsible or moderate drinkers this wouldn't be a big issue. Because they drink in an abusive manner, nonetheless, they are beginning to observe some apparent alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.
For instance, just a few days ago Lenny was arrested for a third DWI and has been showing up late for work because of alcohol-related health issues. What is more, Lenny's last three performance appraisals at work have been less than adequate and he has started to fail to recall what he says or does the times that he drinks. As a final point, Lenny has been going through sleep-related problems and his family has begun to exhibit some disquiet about his drinking behavior.
Angie, on the other hand, has been feeling dejected with things in her life and to manage these feelings, she has been drinking more regularly than any time in the past seven months. Moreover, Angie has been getting quite a few headaches and suffering from dreadful hangovers due to her drinking. Lastly, Angie has been feeling considerably less active when she gets up in the morning, she has been getting to work late virtually every Monday, and she has been getting some strong criticism from her friends, coworkers, relatives, and family members about her excessive and hazardous drinking.
One Friday evening while watching the television, Lenny and Angie accidentally discovered a captivating program about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This TV program was a real source of revelation to Lenny and Angie because numerous alcohol facts that were talked about looked as if they were indisputably related to several of the drinking difficulties Lenny and Angie had been experiencing.
With thoughts of the TV documentary still etched in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been manifesting could be a signal that they are addicted to alcohol or possibly becoming addicted to alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the local drug and alcohol abuse rehab clinic to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking problems.
Ironically, even though their drinking circumstances hadn't yet changed, it was plain to see that Angie and Lenny were at the very least attending to their drinking difficulties, they were excited about finding out more about their drinking behavior, and they were concerned about how they could substantially cut back on or get rid of the alcohol-related difficulties that had begun to go from bad to worse.
When Angie and Lenny went to bed that evening, they came to a decision that the next morning, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol rehab clinic located just East of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to rise above the alcohol-related problems that had emerged in their lives, they truly had the most revitalizing night's sleep they could think of in the last nine months.
